For Wednesday–

  • Read excerpts from The Non-Designer’s Design Book by Robin Williams, “Intro,” “Proximity,” “Alignment” (readings on CTools)
  • Browse the “Albums without sound” website
  • Pick one album cover to talk about. What do you like about it? What is compelling about it? Talk about the composition, about the typeface, about the colors, about the relationship between the band name and the album title and the image and the design. Due by class time.

By Sunday midnight

  • Excerpts from The Non-Designer’s Design Book by Robin Williams–”Repetition,” “Contrast” (on CTools)
  • Find an example of minimalism on the web (for example, these great Star Wars travel posters, or these awesome I Can Read Movies fake book covers). Pick either a specific image or poster, and blog your response to it. What is compelling about it? What does it make you think of? How are the concepts in Williams’s book working (or not working) in these pieces?
  • Post three Design Creates and one original project
  • Post your weekly summary
